Pleased and honored…
On December 7, 2010, Los Angeles County Museum of Art held its Evenings for Educators event, and for that occasion the museum prepared the manual Art and the Environment. It explores large-scale artworks and installations on LACMA’s campus created by artists who experiment with space, scale and perception; one of these pieces of art is Chris Burden’s Urban Light, an installation that has become a landmark for the city. I am pleased and honored to say that, as a way to illustrate Burden’s Urban Light, on pages 29 and 30 of this manual the museum chose from its files ten photographs credited to nine photographers, and I am one of them.
Art and the Environment, which can be viewed online, provides an educator’s curriculum material and can be printed for use in class discussions; it is available at http://www.lacma.org/programs/EvesforEds/E4EArtandEnvironmentDisQuestions.pdf. It could also be helpful to anyone looking for a way to enhance the experience of visiting the museum.

Today I received a congratulatory letter from LACMA and I’m pleased to share it with you here. It is in regard to my photo work submitted to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Urban Light project.
Dear Dianne,
Congratulations! Your work has been chosen by LACMA’s curator and head of the photography department Charlotte Cotton for inclusion in an online exhibition and commemorative print-on-demand book Celebrating Urban Light, available online from Blurb.
Since it was installed along LACMA’s Wilshire Boulevard entrance one year ago, Chris Burden’s Urban Light has become, according to the New York Times, “an instant landmark.” To celebrate its one-year anniversary, the museum has introduced a host of fully integrated and participatory digital offerings, including an Urban Light PDA tour, Facebook page, and dedicated Tweets. The centerpiece was an open call for online submissions of Urban Light-inspired photographs, videos, and writing. Your work was selected from over 1000 submissions to be a part of the celebration.
The online exhibit can be found here:

Again, congratulations!
All the best,
Sarah

Dear friends and art enthusiasts:
I was honored by an invitation from the Latino Art Museum located at the Art Colony Pomona to be profiled in their International Yearbook 2009, just published, celebrating their eighth anniversary, as well as to show my work along with the other artists featured in the yearbook at the Museum exhibit February 7 - March 28, 2009.
For this event I’m taking the opportunity to show photos taken in Lima and at Lake Titicaca in Puno, Peru, in 2007; I hope you might be able to drop by some time during the run of the exhibition.
On February 14, 6-9 p.m., I will be there for the opening reception of the seven-week show and book signing by the participating artists.

Presentation to Ted Hayes
On August 2, 2008, I was pleased to present to Ted Hayes the framed print of a photograph that I took of him on August 15, 2000, outside of the Staples Center during the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles.
The presentation took place during the well attended closing reception of the exhibit, “Skid Row History Museum” held at the Box Gallery in Chinatown and presented by the Los Angeles Poverty Department, which was meant to highlight the cultural, civic and political activities and the community people who made them.
Ted Hayes, who was the keynote speaker of this event, is the founder of the Dome Village and a Homeless advocate and is currently seeking a seat in the U.S. Congress.
Dear friends and art lovers:
In this group show (Strength & Vulnerability), besides photography (my category) there will be other art media plus special archeo exhibit --
Zocateqs (cultural protectors, ceremonial & ritual specimens) -- Jim Hornung. It should be a well rounded show, and fun!!! I hope you'll be there.
