A photographic exhibit
by Dianne Stratton Corzo

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Among her most recent credits was the well received exhibit “Walking in L.A.” at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood in October 2005, in which she captured with her camera those special moments in the life of Los Angeles, followed by “In Touch with Nature” at Movie Town Center in West Hollywood in January 2006. She has also participated in several group shows.

Dianne traveled to Paris this April, her third visit, and it could be said that this third time was a charm. She focused her work on an informal approach to specific elements such as light, design, and form—a combination that allowed her to express in her own style the everyday life of that city, as it might not be seen by others. “Now I can almost say that I have experienced Paris, but now my heart is all the more set on visiting it again.”

ABOUT HER WORK

That Paris is a magnet for photographers is far from being a secret. The City of Light attracts them from every corner of the world. For photographers, first time or not, often just being in this unique city will produce an indescribable pleasure. It could be because of its acclaimed landmarks, its undisputed charm, its many sectors and its bohemian or artistic life, or just its busy streets with sidewalk cafes overflowing with tourists and chatty regulars. So when in Paris it’s up to photographers to dive into a sea of possibilities and capture on film or digitally what is in front of them.

But if a diver goes a little deeper in this sea of possibilities, there is perhaps something that not everyone sees. Dianne, with her easygoing approach, is able to define it with her sensitivity toward natural light and shadows as well as composition, in the group of 25 black & white images on display here. She has taken them all with a hand-held 35mm camera, without flash, and printed them herself.
